Moriarty shoppers will have to take their bargain hunting elsewhere for now after a vehicle crashed into the Dollar General on Route 66 Wednesday morning, closing the store until further notice.
Moriarty Fire Department crews responded at about 10 a.m. to the store at 705 U.S. Route 66, according to a department social media post. Firefighters found moderate structural damage.
People were inside the store when the vehicle hit. EMS crews checked them and the vehicle’s occupants, and all declined a trip to the hospital. No firefighters or officers were hurt.
Moriarty police are investigating what caused the crash. Moriarty police and public works crews, Central New Mexico Electric Cooperative and Torrance County dispatchers also helped at the scene.
Fire officials did not say when the store might reopen. They asked customers to check with Dollar General directly on its status.
