Most kids love big trucks and students (and their miniature horse) at the Moriarty-Edgewood School District’s Early Childhood Center got up close and personal with one of the biggest last week when drivers from the New Mexico Department of Transportation’s District 5 patrol dropped in last week.
NMDOT workers shared gift bags with students and let them try out some equipment first-hand. One dump truck outfitted for winter, newly nicknamed “Bisc-Snow-Chito” in the NMDOT’s annual snowplow naming competition, was a hit with students.
Bisc-Snow-Chito stopped by for the children to have the opportunity to sit in the snowplow operator’s seat and the consensus was, “it’s really high up”.
The students also had the chance to climb aboard a front loader and test the safety lights on the pickup trucks.
The miniature horses at the school got to watch the kids enjoying the vehicles and the gift bags that NMDOT staff handed out.
