Bernalillo County Commissioner Eric Olivas has recognized Lisa Davis, former president of the East Mountain Coalition of Neighborhood Associations, for her leadership and community advocacy in District 5.
Olivas highlighted Davis’s work in the December edition of his newsletter, noting her efforts to strengthen connections between neighborhoods, organizations and local government in the East Mountains region.
“What sets Lisa apart is her clarity of purpose and her deep commitment to relationship-building,” Olivas wrote. “She led the Coalition with a clear understanding of what our communities needed, and she brought people together to make those needs visible and actionable.”
According to the commissioner, Davis served as a persistent advocate in engaging with his office on community issues, bringing forward concerns with what he described as “both urgency and grace.”
Davis, who relocated to New Mexico in 1997, said her involvement with the East Mountain Coalition grew from recognizing challenges facing the community and the difficulty of driving meaningful change.
“While significant change on a global or national level often feels out of reach, getting involved locally is accessible and can have a meaningful impact on our daily lives,” Davis said in a statement provided to the commissioner’s office.
Davis quoted Helen Keller in describing her approach to community service: “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
The East Mountain Coalition of Neighborhood Associations represents communities in the eastern portion of Bernalillo County.
