Sandia Peak Ski Area will open for the 2025-26 season this Saturday, Jan. 10, at 9 a.m..
Operating hours for opening day are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Crews have engaged in weeks of nonstop snowmaking to supplement the four inches of fresh snow that fell over the last 24 hours.
Lift 4 will operate on a limited basis, providing access to lower-mountain beginner terrain. Resort management warned that early-season conditions and unmarked obstacles exist on the slopes.
Ski area operators plan to evaluate additional terrain daily and will provide updates via the resort’s snow report webpage.
Available services for the kickoff include:
- Rentals: Equipment will be available for guests.
- Lessons: A limited number of ski and snowboard lessons will be offered.
- Dining: Food and beverages will be available on-site.
Sandia Peak, which first opened in 1936, is New Mexico’s oldest ski resort. The area is now under the ownership of Mountain Capital Partners.
Tickets are available for purchase online. Management encourages guests to book early to secure current deals.
