The Torrance County Board of County Commissioners will consider approving nearly $3 million in construction contract amendments for major county projects at their administrative meeting Wednesday.
The commission is set to vote on a $2.8 million contract amendment with Franken Construction LLC to complete an early work package for the Torrance County Fairgrounds Project. Commissioners will also consider a $124,199.25 contract amendment with Wilson and Company for services related to a site change for the county’s administrative building project.
County Manager J. Jordan Barela will provide an update on the current project budget and funding gap for the administrative building project, as well as discuss a potential funding request for the 2026 legislative session.
The commission will vote on two resolutions outlining county priorities for the upcoming state legislative session: one identifying 2026 capital outlay request priorities and another adopting broader legislative priorities for the session.
In other business, commissioners will consider an option and lease agreement with The Tower’s LLC to lease county property for erection of a cellphone tower. A related item includes approval of a $74,628.72 services agreement with T-Mobile for cellphone and internet services.
The Sheriff’s Office is seeking approval of a longevity pay scale for certified law enforcement officers and requesting $14,800 in back pay. The office is also asking for approval of an unauthorized purchase of $837.40 for vehicle repairs.
The commission will also receive an Animal Services update on the Best Friends program and hear a discussion on cost estimates for paving gravel roads maintained by the county roads department.
