New Mexico State Police are seeking information on a man who died from a gunshot wound on the side of the road outside Madrid in August, according to a news release sent on Tuesday.
On Aug. 9, the New Mexico State Police responded to a call of a man with a gunshot wound near milepost 29 of NM Highway 14, according to the news release. The man succumbed to his injuries, and the shooter was not found, the release reads.
The victim was identified as Patrick Wheeler, and NMSP announced on Dec. 9 that it is seeking the public’s help in providing information on the case.
According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, Wheeler’s girlfriend was with him in the car when he was shot, and she was uninjured. She told police that somebody drove up on a dirtbike, and she heard a total of five gunshots, according to the New Mexican.
