Several Cedar Crest businesses will host a food drive Monday to support the East Mountain Food Pantry, which has seen a 60% surge in demand this fall.
The drive-through event will run from noon to 4 p.m. at Flamez Fusion, 12118 N. Highway 14, next to Cedar Crest Tire. Organizers are accepting non-perishable food donations.
Flamez Fusion is partnering with Cedar Crest Tire, Polk’s Folly Farm, Diamond Leaf Dispensary and The Independent newspaper to coordinate the collection.
The East Mountain Food Pantry provides nutritious food to families in the East Mountains region. From January through September, the organization averaged 628 food services per month. In November, the pantry is on track to exceed 1,000 services for the first time.
Residents can drive up, drop off donations and leave.
