The Moriarty-Edgewood School District will host a free Community Health and Wellness Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Moriarty High School practice gym.
The event is open to all ages and aims to connect students, families and area residents with healthcare providers, wellness programs and community resources.
“This event will promote health, wellness and community engagement,” district officials said in announcing the fair.
Services available will include COVID-19, flu and childhood vaccinations through the New Mexico Department of Health. Vaccine recipients will receive a City of Albuquerque Free Family Arts & Culture Pass providing admission for up to four people to the ABQ BioPark Zoo, Aquarium and Botanic Garden, Albuquerque Museum and the Balloon Museum while supplies last.
Vitalant will conduct a blood drive from 4 to 6 p.m. The Edgewood Lions Club will provide free glasses with current prescriptions for all ages, while the Moriarty Lions Club will offer vision screenings.
New Mexico Family Medicine will provide free sports physicals. Truman Health Services will offer HIV and hepatitis C testing, with participants receiving a $10 Dion’s gift card while supplies last.
Mental health resources will be available through Breaking the Silence NM, Protocol Services’ New Mexico Crisis & Access Line (988), and Waves Behavioral Health, among others.
Additional services include biometric screenings from the NMPSIA Wellness Team, face painting by Uplifted Hair Studio, and visits with Hope, a therapy dog, from 5 to 7 p.m. through The Alliance for Therapy Dogs.
More than 30 community partners will participate, including Presbyterian Medical Services, Youth Development Inc., Parents Reaching Out, the Moriarty Police and Fire departments, and multiple health insurance providers.
