The Town of Estancia will receive more than $1.5 million in federal funding to renovate its town hall and community center, U.S. Sen. Ben Ray Luján announced Monday.
The $1,513,000 allocation for Estancia was part of a broader package of more than $202 million in federal funding Luján secured for 13 New Mexico projects in two fiscal year 2026 appropriations bills signed into law, according to a news release from the senator’s office.
“New Mexicans deserve stronger infrastructure, safer communities, and greater opportunities for the next generation,” Luján said in the release. “That’s why I fought for this funding.”
The Estancia project was secured by Luján and Rep. Melanie Stansbury, according to the release.
The funding comes from the fiscal year 2026 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill, which included $6,938,000 for New Mexico projects.
The larger funding package also included $195,250,000 from the fiscal year 2026 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill, with most of those funds directed to construction projects at New Mexico’s Air Force bases.
Luján said in the release that while he was pleased to secure the funding, “the process by which these bills passed was deeply frustrating.”
“With costs so high, we must do more to ensure life remains affordable for New Mexico families,” Luján said.
