The Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners will consider adopting a master plan for Sedillo Ridge Open Space and approving nearly $2.1 million in emergency funding for Tijeras Creek projects during its meeting Tuesday night.
The commission is scheduled to vote on the Sedillo Ridge Open Space Master Plan, along with an administrative resolution that establishes operational guidelines, fire mitigation strategies, and infrastructure improvements for the area surrounding the open space. Chair Eric Olivas is sponsoring both measures.
Commissioners will also consider emergency funding requests totaling $2,089,656 for two Tijeras Creek projects. The package includes $799,656 for watershed restoration repairs and $1.29 million for demolition and replacement of a pedestrian bridge.
The watershed restoration funding would come from the Environmental Service Gross Receipts Tax and would cover materials, construction oversight and contingency costs for labor. The pedestrian bridge replacement would be funded through a combination of $1.2 million from the general fund and $90,000 from the environmental tax.
Both Tijeras Creek projects require a $1.2 million appropriation from the general fund balance.
The meeting begins at 5 p.m. in the Ken Sanchez Commission Chambers. The public can attend in person or view the proceedings on GOVTV or online at www.bernco.gov/live.
The agenda also includes a $3.2 million real estate purchase for an animal adoption center on Montgomery Boulevard and several affordable housing ordinances.
Public comments are limited to two minutes per speaker on a first-come, first-served basis. Written comments can be submitted at www.bernco.gov/boards-commissions/speak-at-a-meeting.
